Hi, I’m Charlton.
If you’re like me, you may be thinking, “why in the world do I care what you do or what you think, and why does it matter?” If you are, you’re completely right. This site provides a dual function of digital personality portrayal for future professional collaborations, and an outlet for me to journal. In the rare instance that you may actually be entertained by what I post here, then that is certainly an added bonus. In the digital age, everything you do is right out in the open, so this is me embracing that. I write and produce a lot of music and I have a very healthy network of friends and colleagues that are way more impressive than I. I thought it would be fun to have a place where my life journey, as a whole, can have a home. Seeing as I can’t rant about edgy philosophical ideas under my company’s umbrella nor would it be relevant to showcase a non-guitar based piece of music, I feel the need to give that a space.
I’m currently only 31 so, by nature, this will be short. My collegiate background consists of studying Music Theory and Composition with an applied study in Guitar. I have post grad experience researching for think tanks on Public Policy with a focus on Human Nature’s Interaction with Economic Policy.
To give you an idea of what you’ll see here, in terms of content, I’ll try to briefly explain what I do everyday:
During the day, I run a small business that designs and markets guitar accessory brands. I’ll be posting a lot of opinions on musical gear, as well as my interactions with the talented artists, and other gear nerds, I’ve been blessed to be able to work with and develop friendships with in our little music business.
After hundreds of songs, pieces of music and countless hours wondering if I will ever make anything of my art, I’m blessed to say that I’m also a published composer. I’m not a genre specific writer or listener. I can find enjoyment and respect in anything. I have a small studio in my home in Franklin, TN, just outside of Nashville. Most of my compositions are thrown out into the licensing world to see what sticks, or it’s for a specific project. There has never been a better time to do what I do. With the absence of the old world monopoly on the airwaves, there has been a massive emergence of small budget productions that need music. I seem to do my best work providing an audible vibe other creators can use, as well as working with performing artist to fine tune their craft. Of course, I try to sneak in a few live shows a year to fill that void, but it’s not as necessary these days, nor practical, when trying to make an actual living making music.
If you’re an artist interested in collaborating, or seeking consultation, just reach out. Chances are I’d love to be involved, if time permits.
I’m more than happy to interact, debate and discuss everything I put out there with anyone willing to participate. Anyone that knows me can tell you that I proudly wear my thoughts on my sleeve.
All non-referenced photography and videos are my own.
Thanks for visiting my small little world.
